Trying new techniques

Am playing with new techniques and would appreciate any comments on these images from the Japanese Gardens.

the top foto is wonderful, dreamlike. I like that the colors are close, yet not close to reality. would maybe not circle the logs, my eyes are drawn to them.

the water catcher is interesting, like the blue tones. perhaps change the background tone ... darker or ???

thanks for sharing some new direction!

I like the complementary colors of the water catcher: greens and violet. Try desaturating or muting the background violet at the bottom of the image. It's a gorgeous color but takes the eye away from the subject.

What an interesting technique. I'd like to see more!

The water catcher is probably the stronger of the two images compositionally; the simple shapes and colors are pleasing to look at and there is action implied.

I like all the textural qualities of the landscape photo. I wonder if it would shine better in a format larger than the internet. It is hard on screen to see all the individualized details.
