A New Year of Possibility

Walk and touch peace every moment.
Walk and touch happiness every moment.
Each step brings a fresh breeze.
Each step makes a flower bloom.
Kiss the Earth with your feet.
Bring the Earth your love and happiness.
The Earth will be safe
when we feel safe in ourselves.

- Thich Nhat Hahn

Sideshow Christmas!

I commissioned an artist from the Museum of Northwest Art Style show (I'm organizing the event) to paint a dog portrait as a Christmas gift for my husband. since he collects circus sideshow banners, I asked her to make a tiny banner of our dog, Blini. I think it turned out great and, just from the photos I took, she captured Blini's personality amazingly well! My sweetie will be thrilled.

In the Pink!

After a long dark winter, I decided to redo my office in colors inspired by my trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. My office is located in a little 1920's cottage attached to our house. Originally, I had glazed the walls and hung Indian fabric from the ceiling which made for a cozy and warm space. This summer, I was ready for a more vibrant look and feeling. I also decided to enlarge and frame some of my photos from the trip. My space feels light and bright and fun. Now, even on the coldest days of winter, I can take a little trip to a sunny climate just by stepping into my Chinese Orange and Poppy colored room! While this is not my summer photo project it should count as one since my little home improvement project took waaaayyyyy longer than I'd anticipated!

Boom Town

The Swinomish Tribe sets up Boom Town every year in a dusty lot on the reservation. The firework stands remind me of a circus midway with their bright colors and festive signs. My favorite stand is owned by the Wilbur women. It's called Boom Babes Unsafe and Insane. My kind of women!

Autumn Skagit Photos

This weekend I felt immense appreciation for the light and colors of fall. Here are a few photos I found while exploring autumn in the Skagit Valley.
