Experiment - White Balance
This was an experiment with white balance. I set up a corner in my attic using a black cloth and black foam board. The first picture was taken WB/Shade, Second - WB/Cloudy and third was with a flash.
I like the mood of the candlelit shots more than the flash: they're softer and the color is warmer. The background also disappears in the first 2 photos.
If you wanted less warmth, you could play with color balance in Photoshop or another software program.
