3Ts - Through The Trees

This was taken on the road down from our cabin in Montana. The wildfires in the area had caused these great pink orange hazed clouds at sunset. It felt magical!

Wonderful placement of sun,
like all the trees,
it appears to be arms reaching out for celebration of life

Mellow.....

This is a fall image, leaves gone from the tall trees yet still hanging on in the background. The clouds warmed by the sun and perhaps a forest or grass fire after a dry summer.

You've caught the astonishing beauty that makes me reach for my camera when I come upon this luminous light. It's tough shooting into the light source but it works here. Nicely done!

thank you Carolyn! It makes me feel alive being in Montana. This image to me is celebrating that.

Thank you Marilyn! It was extra challenging getting this image as we were bouncing along the dirt road. I was panning the tree line hoping to get an image where the sun was in between trees and everything was in focus! i have one out of probably 30 that had everything I wanted.

You often have to shoot on-the-move. Is there a stabilizing device that would smooth out the bumps?

Wikipedia: gyroscope

See Wikipedia: Planet Earth for an extreme and fun example:
"The camera was mounted in a device called a Cineflex (Heligimbal), a gyroscopically-stabilised housing attached to the underside of a helicopter and controlled by joystick from inside the cockpit."
Thomas might enjoy piloting a helicopter!

I like this. Nice and "dark". Good find.

Marilyn - I don't know if there is a stabilizer. I know that I have the auto stabilizer on the camera on. I also shoot at a faster shutter speed and boost the ISO to get a bit more light or a larger aperture to let in more light to compensate for fast movement. I also practice a LOT with panning. I can usually crop out any distracting foreground movement if needed, but I often like it. I like showing that when everything and everyone is moving moving moving there are pieces of the world that are stationary sanctuaries that you can get lost in. A little shake here or there has the same effect I have seen over and over in my personal work and I enjoy it.

You've turned a potential problem into asset. How cool is that!

Well said Marilyn!

Isn't that photography at its best?
