Playing with Depth of Field

I only wish the butterfly had perched a few inches past the fence so i could get the fence a little more out of focus.

Manmade objects in landscape -

Sunset from my front porch.

This is the second image i took.
I think I like the first one better because it's cleaner. But i do like the red car in the foreground of the second.

Disrupting flights

This C130 Hercules has been broke down on the runway for a few days, disrupting flights in and out of Butte for days. Thomas and I went out and photographed it from the Cemetery, standing in the pickup bed to try and get a better angle. The sun setting to the west highlighting the colors form the Berkley Pit really made it a unique image.

Doesn't the snow remind you of the Holidays?

We have had some light snow the last few days - finished off today with about 6" of new throughout the town.
(These were taken yesterday, before the 6" of new)

This is the view from my back yard, seriously

Montana Landscape

These didn't make the abstract theme, but some added views of my new hometown :)
They were taken yesterday at about 5 Degrees Above

NON Abstract Landscape

Because this is possibly my favorite photo I have ever taken...
This is The Lexington. The snow falling caused the old-world feel and hid the town surrounding it. Love this.

Sunrise Abstract

This is the engine house for the Mt Con Mine. My grandfather and many great uncles and close family friends worked at this mine and my mom grew up across the street from this mine. It has always held a special place in my heart, and my house now looks directly up at it. I love it!

WA Landscape #1

I think the hardest part will be the "recognizable" aspect of landscapes.
This is a water feature at the Lake Wilderness Arboretum

I Found The North Star!

Our recent camping adventure, I decided to attempt star trails. Now, I do not have the patience or time to do a bunch of editing and layering and so this was much more for fun than to create amazing works of art. I set the tripod up at 11pm, and went to bed. Woke up at 1am, on my own and pulled the camera off. This was the result...I ended up pointing it right at the north star! How neat!

Side note - the highlighting of the trees is due to the Supermoon which was WAY too much light pollution for the star trail experiment. Hoping for clear weather the coming weeks to get some more attempts going.

Fruits of my Work on Vacation

I often post Landscape/Botanicals/Life in Nature stuff. I also work hard at portraiture. Below are my favorite images from my last three portraiture sessions (engagement, wedding, engagement). So much for Vacation????
