Black & white creates a thoughtful mood. Or perhaps it's your choice of subjects: a man (and cat) in repose, communing with gulls at the beach, a 100-year-old building and cobbled alley with a plastic-bottle art installation-- very cool. Nice set of photos!
PS: the use of negative space in the gull photo adds to a wintry, contemplative mood. The expanse of water isolates the man and gives us room to think. Perhaps that's only my point of view. I'm up early waiting to leave for the bird count in 20-degree weather.
