Musicians at work

I asked several street musicians if I could photograph them for a portrait project. All willingly accepted and one (professional musician) asked if he could use some of my photos on his website. Since he "modeled and sang" for me, I told him I'd trade him a few photos if he gives me a photo credit on his site. Can you tell which one is the "professional?". These were taken in San Diego at the Ocean Beach Wednesday Street Market and Balboa Park.

These are good portraits! I like the fiddle player, the colors, his expression, the angle of the fiddle draws my eye into his wry, wrinkled face. The hat's bill keeps the focus from traveling on.

The Balboa mime musicians are incredible! They "frame" themselves, their costumes & behavior, the old tin box, even the Conservatory's shape works when I look at the larger version. This is a way cool shot!

I also like the shot of the African-American guitarist totally "into" his instrument. That's a tough shot to decide where to shoot from.
