Carolyn, this is absolutely stunning! And mysterious. Without the central photo, I would have said the subject was draped cloth but the middle shot has some structure: ceramic or glass?? We also don't know the size of the piece.
It's just beautiful and beautifully shot using a minimal range of shades/zones.
wow ... thank you Marilyn! this was a wonderful steel and fabric structure I saw at Burien Lantern Festival. it was like an ocean shell, with wonderful soft fabric stretched over it, about 7' tall ... this is done as is, encamera. even the draped cloth. I'm glad you like it.
simply stunning! the way you lined up the close up shots along side the full lantern really makes me wish i was there! really really awesome, one of my favorites i have ever seen :)
